M.A.C. Divine Night: Partying at the Grove, Los Angeles

Fun.

Well, that's one word to describe this event! It took place at the Grove in Los Angeles! Over the fountain, they had set up this big stage where the dancers performed, and backstage, all the amazing and talented M.A.C. makeup artists were doing makeup on all the people who went.

Everything was decked out in a 1970's, disco-esque theme with a very Studio 54 feel to it. There was amazing music... (Seriously, compliments to the DJ!) All of the dancers were great and they were all gussied up as the girl in the new Divine Night makeup collection ad and all the guys wore black pants, were shirtless, chests covered in gold glitter with matching gold leather jackets! And the makeup artists all looked so beautiful! Everyone was so fierce!

Me and my mom kept getting compliments from everyone, and everyone just seemed so happy and they all were having such a great time. There was also an awful lot of dancing involved! As you can see in the video I posted onto my YouTube channel!

Another fun and creative thing that I thought they did was that instead of alcohol, they put hot-chocolate in little shot-glasses. It was so adorable! Although there was makeup being done all around me, I didn't get my face done. BUT I DID get some glitter on my face! You can see the application of that on my video as well!

And on Instagram, I took a lot of photos! Some of these, I haven't posted anywhere else yet!

So. This night was one of the best nights I've ever had! I had so much fun and I'm so glad that I threw away my insecurities and went dancing with someone I didn't even know! Hahaha! After I finish high school, I'm definitely going to do some sort of makeup thing. I'm really interested in applying for a job at the M.A.C. at the Grove! They have so many events in that area, so it'd be fun!

Also, on this ultra-lovely Friday night, I went to the Viper Room and got the amazing honor to meet Cherie Currie, singer of the Runaways!

Hope you enjoyed my video and the photos!!

Rest In Peace Talia...

When I was eating pancakes yesterday morning, I was just scrolling down the news feed of Facebook when I saw something that caught my attention. At first, I didn’t believe the news, because I’ve heard rumors that it had ‘happened’ before from other people and they weren’t true, but the post that I’m talking about unfortunately came from the official page of Talia Joy. I read the paragraph the was attached to the photo over and over and I just couldn’t believe my eyes. The first sentence read:

"It is with a heavy heart that we share with all of you that Talia has earned her wings at 11:22am."

My heart sank. I just couldn't believe this. Talia Castellano, was so full of life. She had such a big, beautiful personality and it's just so sad and shocking to hear that she passed away. I knew that she hadn't been doing so well lately and I became really worried and concerned about her, but personally, I truly thought that she was going to make it.

She was such a gorgeous, talented little girl and she was, and will always continue to be a big inspiration to those with and without cancer. She had big dreams and she wouldn't let her illness get in the way of them. She lived each day like it was her last, she lived life to the fullest. That's what I really admire about her. She accomplished so, so much in such little time and at such a young age.

She inspired all of us to "Just keep swimming", no matter what happens.

When I heard that she was back in the hospital about a week ago, I decided to draw her. It pains me to hear that she is going through so much, and I wanted to do something nice for her.

With the drawing, I also typed out a small 'get well' letter for her and I put it on my Instagram, Twitter and Facebook fan page. It read:

"Dear Talia, I am so so sorry about all the horrible things that you have been going through lately. You are so incredibly strong, brave, creative, inspiring and simply amazing. It really pains me to hear about how much you're hurting at the moment. I can't imagine how it must feel... It makes me so sad... I hope and pray that you will survive your long, hard battle with cancer. As a bone marrow transplant survivor, I wish you the absolute best. Please stay strong. I love you. We all love you and we will all pray for your health. Hope you see this and hope you feel better soon!"

I feel really bad for her family. I can't imagine how difficult this time must be for them and I'm praying for them. Her sister, Mattia posted this video on Talia's YouTube channel saying how Talia made an impact on this world and that she brung more awareness to childhood cancer and brought so much inspiration to others. It was truly heartbreaking...

Childhood cancer is absolutely horrible and we need to do something about it. Through the documentaries that I've seen recently, there is very little money that goes to the research of this horrible disease. Together, we need to change this. And how do we do this? Well, so many people put so much attention towards other things and I think that if people take even a little bit of time to make an effort to learn more about cancer and how it affects it's victims, that would be a good start. Here's one of the documentaries I've watched. Little Talia is on there as well. If you currently don't have the time to watch this, please, please keep this in mind and watch it later.

There are also charities, blood drives, and bone marrow donations out there that you can contribute to. If you can't afford to donate money, or not able to donate blood or bone marrow (like me) then you can at least spread the word and increase the awareness for childhood cancer.

Rest in peace Talia... We love you so much and you will never stop inspiring us. Thank you so much for your wonderful impact in this world.

The Wayne's World Reunion! (I GOT TO MEET ROB LOWE AND MIKE MYERS!!)

Earlier this rather EXCELLENT week, we got to go to the special Wayne's World screening which marked the 21st anniversary of the film.

While we were in line, I randomly saw Rob Lowe on his way inside the building and I got him to sign my cast!

I was very excited about the event, but when some of the producers, the director and actors came out onto the stage for the reunion, I just couldn't believe my eyes. One of my childhood heroes was up there: Mike Myers.

I was lost for words. Speechless. It was almost as if I were watching something on screen, but this was real life and my mind just couldn't seem to process what was happening at the moment. Especially when the conversation between all the people that worked for the movie was over. When they headed off the stage, I noticed that Mike Myers was signing autographs. I rushed up to him and he signed my cast and I even got a picture with him.

This all meant so so much to me.

When I was little, for Christmas one year, I got nothing but Austin Powers stuff. I had everything from the dolls to the soundtracks and cardboard stand ups. I was obsessed with the movies and I'll never forget when my mom took me to see the third one, Goldmember, in the movie theater the day before my very first day of school. Kindergarden. That was 11 whole years ago, and to this very day I am still a fan.

I went back to my seat with my hand covering my mouth in shock. Another dream of mine had come true, and I couldn't stop shaking. I just met Austin Powers, Shrek, Wayne Campbell, and most importantly, Mike Myers.

My Sweet 16/Happy Christmas 2012!

On December 24th 2012 at 9:15 in the morning, I officially became 16 years old. I still can't believe it! Time has gone oh so fast, but it's been such a great year. I've met such wonderful people, performed at The Laugh Factory, took part in my first protest and my dream of meeting Gwen Stefani even came true. I have such a wonderful life here in Hollywood and I'm so happy that I'm doing well here. I am very grateful to be here, so grateful to be living.

You are probably wondering how I spent my "Sweet 16". Since my birthday is on Christmas Eve, We never did too much because of places being closed for the Holidays. But now that we live in California, for the past two years I've spent my birthdays at Disneyland. For this visit we went to the California Adventure section of Disney. I think it's my favorite because I grew up with Pixar rather than the fairy tale and princess movies. And they have a huge Ferris wheel and roller-coaster! As we were walking around, we saw a bit of the Play Parade and when Sulley from Monsters Inc and Frozone from the Incredibles saw me, they looked very excited since my blue locks matched them!!

We roamed around looking for the characters to take pictures with and we found Donald! Then over by the Roller-Coaster, we got to meet Buzz, Jesse and Woody from Toy Story, another childhood favorite of mine! I got their autographs as well. I don't know why, but for some reason, before I walk up to the characters, I can't help but to be a little nervous... I grew up watching all these movies and it's just so amazing to meet some of my childhood heroes. (I know that they're costumes, but they're real to me!!)

We wanted to meet more of them so we went to the Wilderness Explorers' forest and met Dug and Russell from UP! When we met Dug, he was so adorable!! He was all fuzzy and he stuck his paw in my ear, hahaha! I played in the playground and then we went to go see the "Ceremony" where everyone became Senior Wilderness Explorers! I volunteered to march with a bunch of little kids to open the show. The whole thing was just too cute but when Russell came out, we were all in awe. HE WAS SO FREAKING CUTE. We took some more photos then found Minnie Mouse down the road!

The most amazing person I met there was Santa Claus. I got photos, an autograph, and he had an awesome sense of humor. I am positive that this was the real Santa. He was so amazing...

We walked around for a while and rode some rides! We went on the Monsters Inc one for about five times and the bumper cars in the A Bugs Life part and then we went into Cars Land. Unfortunately, the ride broke down and so instead, we went to the little diner to eat. Afterword, it was up and running again and since I wanted to go on it, we waited in line for literally 3 1/2 hours for nothing. The ride kept braking down and most of the people waiting in the never-ending line gave up and left. Every time they announced that they were having "technical difficulties" I began lose more and more hope. Feeling utterly exhausted, we complained to the 'Chamber Of Commerce' which wouldn't do anything for us. We called the next day and told their employees the whole situation and got free tickets! (Score!)

Before we went to Disney I received the best cake ever! It was an ice cream cake with candles that spelled out "Sweet Sixteen"! Before I could blow them out, they all melted together and they all went out from my hysterical laughing. I love this cake so much...

I opened up gifts before and after Disney. I got some makeup, magazines, postcards, new boots, a pillow that looks like an ice cream sandwich, an awesome book about Mod fashion in the 60s and this amazing dress...

Seriously. It's the best dress ever.

The next morning I walked into the living room and saw that Santa had left me a new Buzz and Woody doll from Toy Story (a huge part of my childhood). He also left a note on my stocking that said "Merry Christmas! It was very nice to meet you, Lacey!" It was so magical...

I got so many great presents! Everything from Mod clothes and books to Japanese candy and Gwen Stefani stuff! It's hard to pick favorites when you get so many awesome things... :)

That day we just stayed home and my mom made pasta salad which was so yummy! I had such a wonderful Christmas and birthday and I hope your holidays were great too! I am very happy and grateful for living 16 amazing years and 15 years out of my bone marrow transplant. Life is precious and I'm living it well. :)
